Qingshui Zushi Temple
This temple was built in 1769 and has
been through three rounds of renovation. The first time was in response
to damage from a massive earthquake, the second after the Sino-Japanese
War. After the war, the people elected professor Li Mei-Shu as architect
for a rebuilding of the temple. Professor Li did what he could and
dedicated himself to building a temple that combined Eastern and
Western art. This temple is also called ¡§Art Palace of the East.¡¨

This building was built in 1928 and completed in February 1929.
When it was completed, it was known as the ¡§most beautiful public
building in Taiwan.¡¨ It originally served as the town office but,
later on, was abandoned. In 1995, after much appealing to the government,
the town administration was given permission to renovate the old
office, making it the Historical Relic Hall. The rebuilding process
took four years, and resulted in the building becoming a major place

Hong
Bridge
Hong Bridge, just like the Zushi Temple, is one of Sansia¡¦s
most special spots. Construction began on it on October 10th, 1932,
and it was completed on June 28th the following year. After its
completion, it was the main means of linking the township to the
outside world. Standing on the bridge, you can see all the natural
beauty of Sansia. Under the bridge flows the area¡¦s most important
waterway, Sansia River. Looking further out, one can see Yuanshan
and the town center. The bridge was designed by a Japanese architect
and is made of cement with iron rebar, and stretches to a total
length of 93.3 meters. |

Xinglong
Temple
In 1775, it was said that a resident from Yongchun county, Fukien
Province, sponsored building Xinglong Temple ( or Mazu Temple) in
Mingquan street. However, according to the record from Xinglong
Temple, it was built in 1749. Compared the two records, the time
differed by 26 years. According to the presumption, the former was
the time building the temple for the public to worship and the latter
was the time moving to Sanjiaoyong. In compliance with the history,
Chen Yu started reclamation in Yingge in 1685, Chen Dang started
in Sanjiaoyong between 1736 and 1746, and Dong Yue-Xu assarted Sanjiaoyong
in 1755. Probably Mazu was brought there when Chen Dang assarted
Sanjiaoyong. |
